Real finally came to their senses. I guess Ronaldo throwing a tantrum convinced them they were not quite ready for ego-wars. Yep, yep. Lets wait and see if Man U does get Bale after all.

Ronaldo is a star and will remain so until the end of his career. He knows very well he has nothing to lose or prove any longer. I believe the tantrum was just on the spur of the moment.

Gareth Bale has yet to enter the league of great players. A season or two at the highest level will be sufficient for him to stake a claim at football glory. Real Madrid has always had stars of the highest quality. Gareth Bale will be fully aware of his position in the team. I believe so will the others.

Ronaldo will remain at Real for the rest of his career I think, also I think if Bale joins Real he will probably stay for life, why move your young family away for only a couple of years?

Moving away from the premiership to join the Spanish league is a huge jump for a young player like Gareth Bale.

I agree with you. he has made this move and will try his level best to play at the highest level. Recognition will follow with success at the Champion's Trophy and excelling in the match against Barcelona , Real's arch rival.

Don't know if Ronaldo will stay in Madrid for the rest of his career, it is possible if Real is capable of paying him as the best in the world, but if not other clubs will and I think he just might follow the money.

I think the only person who doesn't think Bale is overrated is Levy :D

Yeah, not even worth half of that 80m they're talking about (probably more down to the fact that I don't think any player is worth that). Don't get me wrong, he had an amazing season last year and pulled Spurs out of many a hole in the EPL (nearly a full round of golf in fact), but it is a bit too early to be comparing him to Ronaldo and Messi. This being said, he could still probably walk into any team in Europe and is definitely world-class, assuming he can retain his form from last season.

Anyway, I hope he goes. Spurs have a great squad after this summer even without him, but I'd rather not see another season where Spurs are challenging Arsenal so closely, which in large part was down to one man.

It remains to be seen how long Bale is contracted to play for the club. A five-year contract based on his performance at the EPL may be going too far, but I would not discount capability of the player. Real Madrid, for example, has a definite role for him. He will play down the wings. He is capable of breaking through any defense, so players like Ronaldo have more chances to take a crack at goal.

Bale also has the power to cut inside and take a crack. He has shown tremendous capability to score when the orders are against the team. I just wish him all the luck. Let some of the other teams recognize talent with higher bids. It will help raise the bar a bit higher.

Gareth Bale is a very good player and if Real Madrid and United are happy to spend the money on the back of a couple of good seasons with Spurs then fine. But the 3rd best player in the world? No! What about Van Persie? Players are only worth what clubs are willing to pay. £95 million is outrageous in today's financial climate.

I think it goes beyond evaluating the real worth of a player. What about return on investment for the current year? I'm sure the club has charted out exact plans for Bale in terms of bringing back income to the club.

Contract money is increasing the world over, and we will always get to see exceptional players break financial barriers earlier thought impossible to overcome.
