Chelsea's win today is a message to all other title contenders that Mourinho means business. The season has just started so it's too early for anyone to point out that such and such a manager has done a good job.

A pre-season game will not in any way affect a team's morale because it is common knowledge that you don't have to win any match, that you should see it as an opportunity to improve match fitness.
