Put a striker in a position where he is unable to score, and he's unhappy. Rooney was in that situation for the whole of last season. A low mental state is likely to cause more injuries than normal. Rooney is not happy. That's for sure. However, I think he has stayed long enough at Manchester United to be able to reconcile with both the management and other players who are dissatisfied with his attitude.

It is only a matter of time before he is able to score again with the same frequency we know he's capable of. His role in the national team also determines the fact other management teams also consider him to be a potent force now and in the future.

It should be taken into account that Rooney played as a midfielder for most of last season and was injured for long stretches in between. To top that he barely played games at the end of the season because of his rift with SAF.

Considering this the 12 is decent and he had few assists in there as well. It wasnt a good season for him for sure. But he surely didnt fail as badly as everyone likes to believe.

12 isn't considered a good return by a midfielder these days. :p

I would still consider him a good fit for Arsenal to grab considering the difficult situation they are in. Man U must release him as Arsenal did Van Persie. These are difficult times for Arsenal, and they need help from all quarters.

I don't see how Manchester United can sell Rooney to any Premier League club, unless Rooney refuses to play or makes the biggest scene, what I can't imagine either. They would be giving one of their best players to a direct competitor right when Moyes is beginning and I don't think that would be a good sign for the long years he has left in contract.
That is a really good deducation of why they are not selling him. Selling him to Chelsea would have been a very stupid to do. This is especially because they have just gotten a new manager. That is great strategy from the club to hold on the player.

It's a fight between the players and the clubs, this time MU took the best, don't know if it was created a clause in his contract that allows him to leave next year, everything is possible.

They either told Ronney that he would be allowed to play in the position that he loves or made the clause that allows him to transfer next year if he is not satisfied. I anticipate that there will be a haggle for him next season or in the mid season transfer windows.

I agree a compromise was made between the player and the club, in what terms it's in the secret of the gods... :) I think there is a good chance Rooney continues in MU if plays well and grabs a 1st team sport, otherwise he just might leave.
