Will Arsenal Make It?

The same team that has consistently failed to click in the CL. Is it just a matter of ill luck dogging them each time? In 2006 what happened to Arsenal?

Then again, twice Barcelone dumped them out of the CL?

Barcelona is even better now considering their midfield strength. Arsenal must get their act together with or without stars they are hunting for. Buying power has failed this time with, I suspect, lack of expertise at the negotiating table.

I think they'll manage it. People talk as though Arsenal have a bad team or have been on bad form. We've started the past two season badly, but each time we finish with more or less one of the best records in the league and there definitely seems to be some momentum carried over from last season.

While I think we'll need a few more players to challenge for the title, the team spirit and teamwork is better than I have seen in years. Even the defence seem to be sorting themselves out.

Put it this way, if they drew Fernebache in the group stages, would anyone expect them to be beaten by the Turks? Or expect them not to win? I know that knock-out is different, but not so different that Arsenal deserve all the doubts and questions being thrown their way.

I think this season Arsenal will shut the mouths of many people. They might not win the league, but they will definitely be competing, more-so if they buy a few more players for squad depth.

'Lack of expertise' has nothing to do with it. Arsenal have had plenty of big signings in the Wenger era, and they look to finally have money to spend this year, now that they are recovering from the construction of the new stadium. Arsenal have had a lot of stick, but I highly doubt that any team could have performed so consistently well in the league and in Europe on such a limited budget, all while your best players are getting poached every year.

This is what I don't understand. Wenger gets major stick for more-or-less working miracles with what he has. It makes no sense to me. Don't anyone be fooled. No other team would have won the EPL given the same resources as Arsenal, with their players being poached. And it also is not Wenger's fault that he has had no money to spend.

Sports pundits had pointed it out and everyone except Wenger felt that something was very wrong with the Arsenal. Villa proved it drove the point home at home (arsenal's home) and I'm sure the fans were not very happy with either the players or their manager.

Making the assumption that this early rout sets the downward spiraling trend of Arsenal then I think we can rule them out of the Champions league. They don't have it in them to compete in Europe's biggest stage. Shameful. . .

If today's result is anything to go by it seems more and more possible that they won't. A paper thin squad with a delusional manager can't beat Fenerbahce. Their only hope is for the Turks to get banned from Europe.

But even if the Turks get banned still Arsenal will have to play against another potentially stronger team (compared to the squad they fielded against Villa). Barring a miracle happening, Arsenal's long run in the CL will end abruptly.

FC Salzburg doesn't exactly sound like a team stronger than Villa. Villa beat Malaga in pre-season lets not forget that.

All speculation aside. . .still, cloud storms gather over Arsenal as they await their demise at the hands of whichever team they'll face.

The team's morale is in shambles. Thumped by Villa they're going to face Fenerbahce with some trepidation. . .and once they get beaten Fulham will be waiting for them to deliver another drubbing. . .before Fenerbahce comes back to get them again. . .

Arsenal couldn't have had a worse start to their campaign. Two penalties indicate signs of a desperate team trying to make headway in a tough field. What concerns me more is players on the injury list at start of the season. I won't rule out the team beating Fenerbahce and Fulham if the team gets going. They still have quality and must pull up their socks without getting desperate.

Arsenal fans should be looking up now! After their rocky start to the season they have performed fabulously! As well as signing a world class player in Ozil.
