Apparently, David Villa will not be participating in the EURO this year.

The Football Association have confirmed that Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy has withdrawn from Roy Hodgson's England squad for Euro 2012 due to injury.

Ruddy broke his finger during a training session on Thursday, and after being assessed by England's medical staff, was ruled out of the tournament in Poland and Ukraine.

I think you are getting it confused. Messi will make it up for him on Barcelona but not Spain. He is Argentinian.
