There is a different level of commitment when one plays for the club and country. Rooney has been warming the bench for other reasons than simply performance. His role in Man U is still uncertain, and with Van Persie showing the form he has, I don't think the situation will change unless he moves on to another club.

His role is the English team is defined and should not affect his performance. I believe he is too good a player to be left out of a side. I just hope he is able to mentally get back quickly. He does show signs of having mellowed a bit. I don't see him dashing into the box that often. I guess it is more due to his withdrawn position.
