We seem to forget too fast that Messi was part of the team that was beaten 4-0 by the Germans in South Africa. So, if they could stop Messi and Higuain from scoring back then they can still do it again.

Epic End to an epic tournament.It was sided either way till half time,but once Gotze volleyed it past Romero,i had lost all hopes of a comeback.It was as late as 113th minute and with that pressure and a thick defense Argentina would never have scored one.Leo was unlucky to miss out on that header from penalty spot.Unlucky Argentinians.

Had the pressure not have been too much on Messi to win the game for Argentina, maybe he would have done a little bit more. Looks like he'll end his career without having eclipsed what Maradona did for his country and clubs.

p.s I celebrated the victory as if I was a German. Man, wasn't I stoked that Argentina had lost!

I feel sad for Messi and co.Neymar's words reverberate in my ears every now and then.He has done a lot for football and he deserves to win a world cup.Legends like sachin tendulkar too ended their career on a high with a world cup.Sorry to bring in cricket here but that was what struck me when i thought of the No:10 jersey messi wears.

The best team in the tournament won. Germany were clinical in all areas of the game and proved to be worthy winners. Their thrashing of Brazil will forever be talked about. Messi appeared injured to me. He didn't look at full strength. He was fantastic in the group stages and almost solely responsible for Argentina getting out of their group but he was absent for the knockout games. I thought Thomas Muller deserved the golden ball.
