The retired forward believes that the midfielder should be selected for the Great Britain football team competing at the Olympics this summer as it would be good for the tournament

As a crowd attraction he remains good for the game, but is he still good enough to play at the highest level?

He definitely remains a huge media attention icon. I feel he is more of a celebrity than a soccer player now. He was a great soccer player but he no longer can play at a high level as he wants to. Sure, he will boost revenue up because of who he is and the focus that he brought to the MLS but he is no more than a tired out experienced soccer player, who should definitely call it quits soon enough.

I was looking forward to Roy Hodgson selecting David Beckham for the England squad for this has got to be one of Beckham's last few international competitions given how old he already is. He still has the talent and skills as before and what he has contributed to his team in US has been tremendous although there isn't as much coverage as if he had joined a EPL team instead. Perhaps it was a mistake for David Beckham to move to the US.

It was surely not a mistake for Beckham. Not only has he gained more "celebrity" power but also it has helped his wife become bigger and more known. Whether their is coverage or not the managers still attend games to see how the players are doing, I still stand on my decision, I think it is time to bring someone younger to give them a chance to shine.

I think Beckham should definitely be chosen, I love watching him play. I also think its probably his last chance to take part in such a huge event. He'll be considered a dinosaur soon - if he isn't already!!

The Olympics is not the highest level, it is effectively a youth football competition. Only 3 players over the age of 23 are permitted.

I don't see a problem with Beckham being selected. He keeps himself fit, his long passing and crossing is still exceptional. He is desperate to be involved.
