Lets take the case of Rooney. He has not been able to get the transfer he wants at present. Will he be able to come back from a transfer fallout, if he has to stay back at Man U?

He seems to be ready for a transfer, but it remains to be seen if he can offer the same commitment he has done so far.

Now take the case of a 20-year-old with a market value over $30 million. If there is a sudden transfer due to him not being played, what do you think will happen to him if he were to stay back at the same club he was benched?

If he throws a strop then I think he will find the fans incredibly harsh on him, it is going to take some FANTASTIC performances for the Manchester United fans to warm to him again. I know what I'm talking about as it happened here at Millwall. :)

That's actually a very good solution. The management and other players are not directly involved in trying to tone down a player who has a very strong opinion or feels let down when he's benched.

I just hope he does not react in a negative manner and sticks to a "thumbs up" sign, especially during the beginning of the season. I also hope the management makes him feel more wanted by playing him in a position he has excelled in. I like Rooney a lot. I think he is a genuine star.

The thing is though I think he has let his head get too big, NOBODY should be guaranteed a starting place, not Rooney, not Messi, not Ronaldo and if you are not getting game time then you should be putting your head done and working your nuts off in training to make the gaffa see the error of his ways, not throwing your toys out of the pram and demanding to leave.

This is the first time it has happened to him, so I think he's entitled to a few mistakes. Getting back into the groove and staking his claim to first position is definitely a matter of proving himself in practice.

Whatever happens from here, there is every reason to believe he will perform better simply to sustain his place in the English team. He has a lot to fight for, but it must be on the field and with the fans backing him.
