I made my first trip to Brighton's new ground yesterday, I have to say that although they are no pubs or shops for miles around it is a lovely place and the seats are so comfy some of us didn't want to leave! Shame about the result, but I doubt many will come away from there with a point this season.

The day was spoilt though by the Brighton fans above us who started chucking lighters, coins, food & drink down at us and a couple of kids (9 or 10 years of age) had their heads cut open from the coins, took 20 minutes and a lot of shouting from the Millwall fans before the police decided to get off their arses and sort it out. Sussex have the most polite coppers in the world because they were still throwing stuff while the police were talking to them!

Not surprised it hasn't been reported in the media though, now if it was the other way around......

It's a shame to hear that some of the fans at Brighton were hostile as I went there last year for a friendly as I was working in London and there was no trouble at all.

But it's a shame that Millwall have to have this 'stigma' about them as I've met many Millwall fans who are the complete opposite from what media and West Ham fans make them out to be and love their football, certainly passionate for sure but never trouble, it's just what people seem to judge them for.

To be honest I've been to many games where they have had home fans in a tier above away fans and the same things always happen, some idiots will throw stuff down. I was at Liverpool/Newcastle once and some Liverpool fans had urinated into cups and then threw them down onto us - lovely.

Outside the ground Millwall and Brighton were mingling without a problem, I even ducked into the home end on the way out of the stadium because they were still selling beer, had my colours on and no bother at all. It is a definitely a minority at these clubs that drag them through the mud.

It's a shame there is always a small minority of idiots who think it's funny to ruin someone's experience of a game by such behaviour i.e your point about Liverpool fans urinating into cups and throwing them down.

I would have thought Brighton and Millwall would get on well and thus no hassle with the beer stands :) but I agree it is a small minority of fans that do ruin it by dragging their team through the mud.

I ended up sending the club an email about it and got a very nice reply informing me that they had been made aware of the problem and as a result of CCTV they had arrested a number of people and would be issuing bans from the stadium. Nice to see them taking action, I hope they have a word with the police who stood by and watched for nearly 20 minutes.

That's good that the club have taken action against the yobs who did it, it's what is needed in every ground now.

I watch Rugby League and go to the grounds and it's nothing like football, you get rowdy crowds but they are well behaved (well 99.9%) but hard hitting penalties to fans misbehaving is what is needed.
