Does the Club World Cup matter? It is highly regarded in South America as it is a chance for the South American teams to compete against the best in Europe. Inter-continental tournaments were huge back in the day but they are not taken seriously in Europe. I think Chelsea value the tournament for the commercial value more than the sporting value. What do you think?

Well that was a massive waste of time! Chelsea were absolutely awful and deserved to lose.

I was impressed by the strength and physicality of Corinthians, not what you expect from a Brazilian team. Credit to their supporters as well, awesome support.

Before the game started, I thought that Corinthians had no chance but Chelsea had an awful game and they deserved the win. Anyway, I don`t think that this cup matters for europeans so much ..

No, it is still not valued by the European clubs. The owners etc want to win the tournament as it is good for marketing and the profile of the club but I don't think it is taken seriously from a sporting point of view.

The South Americans are crazy for it. I knew they valued the competition I was still surprised.

Wasn't this the competition that Manchester United entered one year and asked the FA to remove them from the FA Cup because they valued the Club World Cup more than the FA Cup? Or have I got the wrong competition?

Personally I am all for competitions where teams get to battle other teams from other countries, I miss the Anglo-Italian Cup, which was where lower league teams in England would play lower level Italian teams, it was abandoned because English teams thought they had too many domestic fixtures to contend with. :(
