There was no mistaking the big story of the weekend's domestic action as Manchester City FC conjured two goals in added time to claim their first English title since 1967/68. Celebrations were the order of the day for Borussia Dortmund too as they completed a first ever domestic double, while a late goal against LOSC Lille Métropole took Montpellier Hérault SC another significant step closer to their maiden Ligue 1 crown. Only Paris Saint-Germain FC can now catch René Girard’s men after Nenê's hat-trick secured a 3-0 defeat of Stade Rennais FC, though the capital side lie three points off the top. "Clearly, it will be tough to win the title, but it's not finished yet," said PSG coach Carlo Ancelotti. "We still have a small chance and we'll do all we can to seize it." AJ Auxerre's fate was sealed, meanwhile, as their 3-0 loss to Olympique de Marseille confirmed their relegation.

Dortmund are savouring the first league and cup double of their 103-year history after overwhelming UEFA Champions League finalists FC Bayern München 5-2 in Germany's knockout showpiece. Poland forward Robert Lewandowski plundered a hat-trick as Jürgen Klopp's men got the better of the side they also pipped to the Bundesliga title by eight points. "It was a cup final which we couldn't have imagined going any better," said Klopp. "We will see in the years to come whether anyone will be able to outperform our achievements of this season. We proved that we are a really good team and tonight we are just going to enjoy ourselves."

Champions Real Madrid CF reached another milestone on Sunday, defeating RCD Mallorca 4-1 to become the first Liga side to finish a season with 100 points. "Thank you for being here," goalkeeper Iker Casillas told supporters afterwards. "This celebration is also yours." Below the Merengues, ambitious Málaga CF beat Real Sporting de Gijón 1-0 to secure fourth spot and a place in the 2012/13 UEFA Champions League preliminaries. At the other end, Villarreal CF's 14-year stay in the Spanish top flight came to an end after a late 1-0 reverse against Club Atlético de Madrid confirmed their demotion.

Juventus may have already wrapped up the Serie A title but they had further cause for celebration on Sunday as a 3-1 win against Atalanta BC ensured they remained unbeaten for the whole campaign. "We've had a fantastic championship season, crowning it with the Scudetto and a record which will go down in history," said coach Antonio Conte. Udinese Calcio, meanwhile, beat Calcio Catania 2-0 to wrap up third – behind AC Milan – and a UEFA Champions League qualifying berth for next term. US Lecce's 1-0 loss at AC Chievo Verona condemned them to relegation to Serie B.

The title was decided in the Czech Republic too, with FC Slovan Liberec emerging on top, while KS Skënderbeu did likewise in Albania, FC Salzburg ended the tension in Austria with a game to go, FK Vardar took the honours in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and F91 Dudelange grabbed glory in Luxembourg. On the knockout front, Skonto FC won the Latvian Cup for an eighth time.
