Campeonato Brasileiro Série A (or Brasileirão) is an annual Brazilian club football tournament organized by the CBF. It has 20 teams. The first four are classified for the "Copa Libertadores", and the last four are relegated to the "Série B".

I will second your thoughts partially, it is balanced though it has its own "flaws" anyway. Nonetheless, it is overall good. I've been looking forward to Santos's team progress in 2007-2008, but today they simply don't manage to keep up with the pace in my opinion.
