Aston Villa have confirmed Paul Lambert has been appointed as their new manager.

I am sure he will do good for the club, as he did a relativley good job with Norwich last season. But I think if they were hoping for a Champions League place they should've gone with a more experienced manager...but we shall see what happens.

Your thoughts on this?

Aston Villa needs some serious revamp after their near-death with relegation. With Darren Bent set to be available for the next season, returning from injury, the new coach has to seriously consider his options and build a team around Darren Bent. Villa was once one of the top teams and has degenerated to one of the poorest performing teams ever.

It is a good move for Paul Lambert because Aston Villa are a bigger club and they massively underachieved last season. Inheriting a squad which has underachieved is always a good career move. The Villa fans seem to be pleased with the appointment as well.

I will be interested to see if he integrates the young players at Villa. Players like Bannan, Clarke and Gardner are very talented.

This was inevitable. As soon as Lambert was linked with Villa I knew he wouldn't stick around with City for any longer. Let's face it Lambert was an ace manager, look at what he did for Norwich, despite everyone's prediction they were excellent in the League and with such an impressive season under his belt Villa were going to hardly say no were they? And I'm sure Lambert had no objections with such a large jump.

His achievements at Norwich were remarkable. Back to back promotions and finishing 12th in the Premier League. A step up to a bigger club is inevitable when a manager at a smaller club is successful. However, Norwich fans could argue it is not a step up considering Villa finished four places below Norwich...

Maybe he feels he can bring them up higher. Aston Villa, do indeed have a better squad. It's going to be interesting to see how he does.
