USA have got out the toughest group and played well against the big teams.
You reckon this will make people actually appreciate the league and star to watch it.?

Thank you for recognizing the same thing I did this was the second world cup I had the chance to watch but it was the only one that I really payed attention to as a fan. Now getting back to the point you made the Americans and I am one of them really got fired up this time we were in our clubs going crazy cheering on our team until the end. I honestly do think that since we did good on a world stage that views will certainly go up for our American as well as local leagues because we showed passion for the sport these last few weeks passion that I have not seen in earlier years.

I really do think that seeing the US team do well gets a lot more Americans interested in soccer. Older people tend not to get so involved, particularly if they are football fans, but there is a fast growing younger audience that sees soccer as a much more interesting game than football.

I don't know if it would change people's attitudes that much. The only way to get people to love soccer in the U.S is to get more serious with it in school. If more kids get to play it, fall in love with then they'll be more likely to watch more of it. But since theres a bias towards basketball and football in high school and college, I don't see there being much change in future.

It'll be interesting to see if it does change the attitude of the country and their fans, but Americans don't really put as much faith or interest into soccer as they do American Football, or even other kinds of sports, and it's not like the World Cup has ever changed their views on this before now.

I think there will be some carry over fans, but not as many as I would hope for. Something that I haven't heard brought up enough about this World Cup is that it took place in a close time zone. Americans didn't have to try too hard to watch a game. I think once hype started to grow, it made it easy for others to watch. Looking forward to the next World Cup, I'm not sure it's going to be quite as crazy here, even if we put together a team that has a really legitimate shot at winning. I volunteer for the NY Red Bulls on game day, so I'm interested to see what attendance looks like this Saturday. I hope to see a sold out crowd, but I'm not too sure. I went to the (soccer) bar to watch Germany v Brazil, and the majority of the people there were regulars who weren't specifically there for the game. I would have expected it to be a little crazier after the crowds that were there for the USMNT games. So, basically, I think that there will be some carry over of new fans, but overall it will probably just keep growing at the rate it has (which is still better than any other sport.)

Soccer isn't that popular in the USA, as far as I've seen as of today. I think they should just stick with their American Football while they can, because Baseball will stealthly-tread in and potentially overcome it.

It'll be...interesting to see how American attitudes towards the next World Cup end up considering where it's being held. I wonder if there'll be any residual tension between the old enemies.
